The Tennessee State Museum provides FREE tours for groups. The Fall calendar opens May 4, 2026, request a form here: https://tnmuseum.org/field-trips-and-reservations.  Field Trips must be scheduled via the website and are largely full for this Spring semester. So, plan to be the first to schedule for the 2026-27 school year to fully engage options like Scavenger Hunts.

For General Field Trip planning scroll down to “Self-Guided Field Trips” available year-round: https://tnmuseum.org/field-trips. Plan about 1-2 hours to see the entire museum. Students, led by their teachers and chaperones, can explore all five permanent galleries. On their journey, they see real artifacts like Daniel Boone’s musket, Andrew Jackson’s top hat, and Dolly Parton’s suit, all while engaging with exhibit interactives.

For Educators and Kids, the weekly TN State Museum (TSM) newsletter the “Weekly Wrangle” is a free subscription: https://tnmuseum.org/kids

Listen to a quick review of TSM’s free resources for kids and up-and-coming programming (including the re-purposing of the War Memorial Building), here: Educator’s Digest Conversation with Dali Atchley.
